A day after the release of the long awaited new album from The Libertines, the band took to the stage in Manchester at the Academy's club venue for an intimate album launch show in collaboration with Leeds's Crash Records.
"Good things come to those who wait"? Well, that seems to be very prevalent when it comes to fans of The Libertines. With a nine-year wait for the release of All Quiet on The Eastern Esplanade since Anthems for Doomed Youth, (With AQOTEE's release date even being extended by a month) and a lengthy pushback of the door times for tonight's gig, both most definitely seemed to live up to the hyped expectations everyone seemed to have.
Peter Doherty, Carl Barât, John Hassall and Gary Powell all took to the stage of the 470-capacity Manchester basement venue and very quickly set the tone for the night with Libertines Classic, What a Waster, followed by Run Run Run, the first single released from the new Album. For an album launch show, the setlist comprised a great mix of new and old tunes, but even the newer ones felt like they had been around forever, with what felt like the entirety of the venue singing along to the lyrics word for word.
