The Libertines returned to Leeds on Thursday as part of a run of small intimate dates in support of their upcoming album, All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade, with two sold-out shows at The Wardrobe. It's the band's first return to the city since playing at the O2 Academy back in November 2021.
The first show of the day took the form of a more laid-back, acoustic setup, in collaboration with Crash Records, but still very much packed a punch. The scene was set with fan favourite, Music When The Lights Go Out, swiftly followed by a new, yet unreleased track from the new album, Mustang.
The band then followed on with a mix of both new tunes, and Libertines Classics, finishing up with Don't Look Back into the Sun, followed by a solo by Pete of What a Waster, which the band joined in on.

The second set was a lot more lively with a set up one would expect from The Libertines, and a longer setlist to match, still containing both the three new songs already released as singles from the new album, the unreleased song Mustang, and many Libertines Classics.
A four-song encore composed of Gunga Din, What a Waster, The Good Old Days, and of course, Don’t Look Back Into the Sun, followed by Pete singing a snippet of Whatever by Oasis.
The second gig also saw Bear Park as support, a band signed to the Libertines Drummer Gary Powell’s label 25 Hour Convenience Store.
The new songs were very well received by the crowd of both sets, with many singing along throughout making them feel like they are far from new releases and are already a part of the group's legacy.
The Libertines - All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade is due for release on the 5th of April 2024.
The band have also announced a headline UK tour, with tickets on general sale Friday 23rd February. Pre-order the Album HERE to access early release on Wednesday 23rd.
